Do’s and Don’ts for your boudoir session

Preparing For Your Boudoir Shoot

  • Lay off the salt for a few days before the shoot.
  • Drink lots of water – not only will it make your skin look great it will cut back your water weight.
  • Exfoliate every day at least for a week. Give your skin (face & body) a good scrub down. In a perfect world you should do this on a every day basis to have glowing skin.
  • Moisturize. moisturize. moisturize. Did I mention moisturize?
  • Get a facial a week before the shoot. DON’T do any chemical peels before your shoot.
  • Get a mani/pedi the day before the shoot. Got to have cute pinkies and toes!
  • If you get your hair colored on a regular basis be sure to have your hair done the same week as your shoot. Roots are really hard to retouch and will cost you more $$.
  • If you do not have a package with the stylist be sure to have your makeup and hair done at the salon, or go to the MAC counter and have someone there do your makeup. Unless you are a makeup artist you will probably look at your photos later and really regret not letting a professional handle the finer details of your face. This really does make a difference for your photos.
  • Wear a button up shirt and loose clothing to your shoot. Don’t wear anything tight fitting because it can leave marks on your skin.
  • Be sure and eat a good breakfast. Do not skip meals because it is not going to make a big difference in how you look. If you really feel like you can’t eat a regular meal then eat a protein bar. It takes a lot of energy to do intimate portraits and you don’t want to run out of steam before the session is over.
  • Choose lingerie that fits well. Try on items you have not wore in awhile in case they are too big or too small now. (we will give you a list of suggested items to bring upon booking)
  • Practice your sultry look in the mirror or like Tyra says your “Smize” {Smile with your eyes).

A few more don’ts:

  • Do not get a spray tan. Creamy skin is in don’t you know!
  • Do not get sun burned or tan lines. Be careful about tan lines and burning before your session. Retouching sunburn is not included in your package. If you have really bad tan lines be sure to have your lingerie match up with the lines or you may have to pay additional fees for extensive retouching depending on how bad it is.
  • Do not get a wax the day before if you do not wax normally. Wax at least a few days in advance.
